For Black History Month, we want to amplify and share the work of Black artists who inspire us and our community. Their work covers all facets of hair; cut, color, styling, extension work, wig work, braiding, and everything in between.  On the @amikapro Instagram page, we highlight artists with incredible skills and versatility, and share some of their work. So, we thought we’d bring this to the strand to showcase some amazing people and hair! 

Not only is Naeemah the Global Artistic Director for amika, LaFond is most known for her technical range in delivering everything from effortless looks to sculpted artwork, and for her versatility with all hair textures.  

The Chicago native styles hair for the likes of Taraji P. Henson, Mary J. Blige, and Yara Shahidi. and the list goes on and on. These celebrities and many other clients have been proud to have their hair #TossedbyTym. 

Celebrity stylist Chuck Amos is known for creating fabulous hairstyles on some of the most popular celebrities around. Vanessa Williams, Jordin Sparks, Mary J Blige, Iman, Kelly Rowland, Solange, and Tracee Ellis Ross, are among his noteworthy roster. 

Founder and creator of Curl Queen by Naivasha Intl, Nai’vasha is globally recognized as one of the most sought-after hairstylists in the world, renowned for her original and beautifully creative work with natural hair. Her work spans red carpets in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Milan, Nigeria, and beyond with top tier talents. 

Ursula is a celebrity hair stylist who works with top tier talent. She's worked on everything from red carpets to magazine covers, to backstage at Fashion Week as a TRESemme ambassador, and some seriously stunning MET Gala creations.

Pekela Riley is a nationally published celebrity hair stylist, owner of Salon PK, educator, on-air personality, and serial entrepreneur. As an avid writer, Pekela has a gift for exploring the intersection of natural hair phenomena between styles & shifts in society.
