Jennifer Lopez Denies Reports That She's "Pissed" at Ben Affleck Following Controversial Interview

She gave a full-blown statement.

Jennifer Lopez has responded to claims that she was "pissed" following Ben Affleck’s recent interview on Howard Stern, where he seemingly implied that he’d still be drinking if he was married to Jennifer Garner. (Note: The interview got a ton of backlash on social media, but Ben has since said his comments were misconstrued and that he has huge amounts of respect for Jen.)

“This story is simply not true,” J.Lo People over the weekend in response to reports that she was upset with Ben. “It is not how I feel. I couldn’t have more respect for Ben as a father, a coparent and a person.”

A source had previously told Page Six that “[Lopez] is pissed. She is getting pulled into this because she is dating him. She doesn’t want to be dragged into this. She has met Jennifer Garner. She is trying to get to know her and Ben’s kids.” The source added, “It’s reckless and cavalier of him.”

As a reminder, Ben initially told Howard Stern, “I’d probably still be drinking. It’s part of why I started drinking…because I was trapped. I was like, ‘I can’t leave ’cause of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ What I did was drink a bottle of scotch and fall asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.”

He then explained his comments on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying people had “taken the conversation” and “made it seem as if I was doing the exact opposite of what I said.”

“I had gone on and said how much we respect each other and cared about each other and cared about our kids and put them first and went through our stuff," he explained. "And they said that I blamed my ex-wife for my alcoholism and that I was trapped and just made me out to be the worst, most insensitive, stupid awful guy....That’s not true. I don’t believe that. It’s the exact opposite of who I am, what I believe. I would never want my kids to think I would ever say a bad word about their mom.”
