support breast cancer awareness without leaving your couch

Here at amika we are very serious about treating people like a friend. And if a friend is in need, what do you do? You HELP! Even if that means small acts of kindness.

Breast cancer awareness is a cause that is very close to our hearts. “Many people will lose either some or all of their hair as a result of treatment for breast cancer. People who have chemotherapy will often experience hair loss,” according to the Breast Cancer Now Charity. Hair is a huge part of a person’s identity, and when lost, can cause stress + anxiety.

At amika, we have made a pledge to donate $1 of every limited edition fluxus hairspray sold to Hair To Stay, which helps breast cancer patients afford scalp cooling treatments in order to keep their hair during chemotherapy. Hair To Stay is an amazing organization and we encourage you to read up on it!

However, we don’t want to just stop there. We’ve also rounded up some other amazing companies that are helping with this cause and how you can do your small part in getting involved, even if it's just from the couch.

prices may vary

Megabus has always been a huge breast cancer awareness supporter, and they aren't stopping this year! Check out this amazing bus!!!! Not only is Megabus going to be donating $1 of every ticket they sell on the day of October 23rd, but the company will also be taking this bus out on the road to drum up awareness around the cause! All of their donations will be supporting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). If you're traveling soon, make sure to get your bus ticket on October 23rd. And, if you happen to see this bad boy out on the streets, take it to the 'gram!

$35

So if there's one thing you can do for the planet that requires no effort, it's using a reusable water bottle. But now, you can save the planet AND support breast cancer awareness! S'well will be donating 20% of its proceeds to the BCRF from the Pink Topaz Traveler. Not to mention, this will look SUPER chic on your desk. You're welcome.

$26.97

Now this is something we can really get behind. Not only do you ALWAYS need more loungewear in your life, but 100% of proceeds from this limited edition sweatshirt go to Bright Pink; a non-profit dedicated to prevention & early detection of breast and ovarian cancers in young women. If you're more into getting up and actually doing things (can't relate), Aerie also created Play Seamless High Waisted Leggings in hot pink with a matching sports bra.

$199

SUPERSIZE ME!! Well, just in this case. The Elemis Limited Edition Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is a great way to get some bang for your buck as well as support an amazing cause. One of our great friends (oh, you may have heard of her), Katie Jane Hughes is a firm believer in this product and brand. And let's face it, anything Katie recommends, we buy. Not only does purchasing this product support The Pink Agenda, but Elemis has also pledged to donate $25,000 to the organization, regardless of sales.

$10.99

Here at amika HQ, we can't get enough seltzer. Seriously. LaCroix, Perrier, Bubly, we have it ALL and we like it all. When we saw one of our favorite daytime pick-me-up's was supporting breast cancer awareness, we knew we had to spotlight them! To raise awareness, Bubly has created a can in collaboration with Susan G. Komen. Of course the can is pink and is adorned on their grapefruitbubly flavor. Seriously, this thing is cute. The company will also be donating $100,000 to the Susan G. Komen foundation. These limited edition cans will be sold online and in-store. Get yours while they last!

Image via Olay

$58.99

Here we have another great case of supporting breast cancer awareness while eliminating waste! Olay is taking one of their tried and true formulas and putting it in a gorgeous pink container. 100% of US proceeds will be donated to Bright Pink, an organization that isfocused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. Another great thing to mention; you can reuse the jar for the refill pod that comes with your purchase, and hopefully, longer! According to Olay, "this refill pod eliminates 94% of plastic jar waste." Great product, eco-friendly, and supporting a good cause. What's not to love?
