how to give back this holiday season
Helping others has always been a part of amika’s DNA. Every month, our employees get to choose two organizations or charities that HMS (our parent company) will donate to. This month, we decided to ask our wonderful community members which organizations are near and dear to their hearts so we could offer our support, spread the word, and donate. They chose The Trevor Project and The Becky Baker Foundation, both of which dedicate their work to amazing causes. Keep reading about both organizations and join us in getting involved with their missions!
the trevor project
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. Their crisis counselors are trained to answer calls, chats, or texts from people who are struggling with issues like coming out, identity, depression, and suicide. Even more, they created an inclusive community for LGBTQ young people (between the ages of 13-24 years old) to explore their identity, get advice, find support, and make friends. the becky baker foundation
The Becky Baker Foundation believes that the best way to beat breast cancer is by prevention (and we agree). They provide $200 grants to any woman or man in the U.S. who cannot afford the thermograms or mammograms. This grant pays for the test in full, and they have provided over 3,000 grants since their inception in May of 2017. After the screening, their next goal is to offer education on the importance of preventing breast cancer and what next steps are needed to care for themselves.
